A new start

Almost twelve years ago, I read an article in a magazine. The article was about Operating Systems, Design and Implementation by Andrew S. Tanenbaum. It was very very catchy and I remember I even didn’t wait to arrive home for reading the article. I finished reading the article in my way home.

The whole story behind the book and Minix operating system was great. I learned a lot even from an article in that magazine, but the most interesting part for me was the last part of the article : The Linux Story.

I found out that Linux, one of the most used operating systems of the world, was just made for fun and the use of it also was almost an accident. But I also found out that when the world wants you to be a famous person who even has the power to give NVIDIA the finger, it does.

After reading that particular article, I decided to make my own operating system as well. But it was a way-too-large project for a 15 years old programmer. Those days, I just wanted a good starting point. So I decided to migrate to Linux.

After installing Ubuntu (I believe my first one was 11.10) I found it the right base for what I wanted to do, so I made JabirOS based on Ubuntu. I continued learning and making. I even tried BSDs, I tried to make my own custom BSD iso images, and all didn’t work out that well.

A few days ago, I decided to make my brand of Jabir Technologies again. It’s somehow like Apple for Steve Jobs, you know even when he had NeXT and Pixar, he still wanted to be at his position at Apple? So this is also what works very well for me.

The future programs of Jabir Technologies, will be announced through this website, and at the end, I have to thank you guys for spending time and read this article.

Sincerely,

Muhammadreza Haghiri
